Industrial History
Industry is perhaps not the first thing that comes to mind when you think of the Stockholm archipelago. But there are reminders here from many interesting parts of Swedish industrial history. Wira Bruk in Roslagen, for example, used to be Sweden's most important weapons factory. Today, you can visit the workshop or get a guided tour of the entire mill. At Pythagoras Industrial Museum in Norrtälje, you'll find exhibitions and events in this former hot bulb engine factory. If you're more interested in porcelain, a trip to Gustavsberg is recommended. This city was the cradle of Swedish porcelain and the Gustavsberg factory, built in 1825, is still in business.
