The Archipelago - with bike and boat. 80 km cycling

Öregrund, Norrtälje

The Stockholm Archipelago with bike and boat. 80 km cycling Öregrund via Singö, Grisslehamn and Björkö to Stockholm

”A wonderful 80 km three-day tour on roads winding through beautiful landscapes by the sparkling sea”

The tour starts in picturesque Öregrund. Bo & Kajak by Sunnanö Bay offer comfortable accommodation in cabins or rooms with B&B and will provide you with your bike and map. If you want to dine out, there are several restaurants to choose from in Öregrund, or you could have a picnic on the rocks and watch the sun go down into the sea.

From Öregrund you ride south towards Raggarö where you take the boat to Singö, a journey of about 30 minutes. From Singö the tour continues towards Grisslehamn.

Grisslehamn is a popular summer paradise where sun-warmed rocks and nice beaches are perfect for family swimming. A visit to the fishmongers is a must as they are famous for their smoked and fresh produce, salmon, eel, whitefish, flounder and of course herring. You’ll also find a variety of restaurants, shops and cafés by the harbour.

Grisslehamn has a colourful history which for many years was characterised by Postrodden. Grisslehamn – Eckerö is the shortest route across to Åland and the Väddö farmers were obliged to row post between Sweden and Åland until 1879.

The tour then winds its way on quiet mainland roads passing through Ortala Bruk and Älmsta, where there are plenty of shops, restaurants, and cafés. From Älmsta the scenic Roslagsleden takes you alongside Väddö Canal up to Bagghusbron which you cycle over and continue via Barnens Ö to Simpnäs on Björkö. Please note that you may have to lead your bike at times on this stretch of the Roslagsleden trail.

Björkö - Arholma
Bike towards Simpnäs on Björkö. Here you can take the boat to Arholma island where the hostel Arholma vandrarhem -Bull August welcomes you. After a good nights sleep on Arholma you have several options on when you take the boat to Vaxholm or Stockholm.  The journey takes about 3½ hours. Meals and snacks are served on board.

Alternatively you can take SL bus 636 to Stockholm via Norrtälje.
