Between land and sea - bike and kayak trip

Bergshamra, Norrtälje

This bike ride takes you on pretty country roads through the
typical landscape of Roslagen. To make the most of it, you can
also combine it with a beautiful kayak trip. Be sure to have your
map handy so you don’t lose your way. Bergshamra - Kapellskär, 44 kilometers.

Start out from Carlberg B&B in Bergshamra Bay. Follow the bike
trail going north-east for approx. 3 km, then turn left at the petrol station onto road 276 towards Norrtälje. After a few hundred meters turn left onto the gravel road where you see the ¼ landmark. This is the original road between Stockholm and Norrtälje that takes you through wooded countryside for 2 km before you get back onto road 276. Here you turn left and cycle a few hundred meters until you reach Grovsta turn-off on your right. Follow this road straight ahead and you will see a stone landmark, a sign that you’re on the right track. Cyclists are allowed to pass through the stable area at Stall Eska and continue on the Grovstanäs road to Hysingsvik. The dock at Hysingsviks brygga is a nice spot for a rest before continuing towards Furusund.

Turn left off the Furusund road towards Kapellskär and then when you come to the Marholmen sign, turn right. Then continue straight ahead at the next crossroads, passing through Gubboda and Klemensboda. When you reach the end of Strandvägen, and the tarmac begins, you have arrived in Spillersboda. This is a pretty spot to enjoy an ice-cream by the jetty!

The route continues on small country roads past the sawmill at Spillersboda towards Håtö, crosses the E18, and joins the old road to Rådmansö. Follow this road to Södersvik, which has a fantastic bakery and café, then continue east towards Gräddö.
The route takes you past Rådmansö church and school, uphill
and downhill, before winding up in Gräddö, which is 6 km from
the final destination of Kapellskär.

The Rådmansö peninsula forms the easternmost part of Norrtälje municipality. Here you’ll find Kapellskärs Harbour, one of the major ports in Sweden with passenger and cargo traffic to Åland, Finland, and Estonia. The holiday village, Kapellskäret, comprises hostel, camping, and marina. Riddersholm Nature Reserve has 19 km of hiking trails through unparalleled countryside with stunning flower meadows.

We recommend combining your bike ride with a kayak excursion.
“Kajak & Uteliv,“ located by the docks in Gräddö, offers
a full range of sea kayaking and Stand Up Paddle (SUP) activities.
Why not take a kayaking course, participate in a guided tour or rent a kayak or SUP board and explore on your own?
